Putting Forward Ideas & Issues
Any DGYC Member can put forward anything they want to include in a Youth Council Meeting, this could be:
- A 'motion' which would be if you wanted DGYC to agree a position on something or agree to take action on something as an organisation. It could be a statement of 'we support' or it could be 'we will do x, y and z' - the whole Membership will then have the chance to vote and if most people are in favour, it'll be passed.
- A workshop or training session, this could be something you feel DGYC should take part in i.e. to learn more about a particular issue, to raise awareness of a service that exists to support young people etc.
- A topic for discussion, this could be anything that you feel is relevant to young people that you want to highlight to the wider Membership
Submit your ideas or issues here.
Youth Council Enquiry Service
Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council has a direct way to ask questions to Officers within D&G Youth Council through the Youth Council Enquiry Service (YCES). The enquiry service came about after the first joint meeting with the Council and it is the same way that Elected Members ask questions / chase up things. Any Member can send as many requests for information as they want to and there's a commitment that you'll get a responses within 5 working days (working days are Monday-Friday excluding bank holiday's).
If you are not satisfied that the response you have recieved answers your question, you can go back and ask for more information. There's always help from Youth Workers if you're not sure where to start but we've put together a wee template that you could use (if you wanted) to word your e-mail. Here's a template that shows how you could format a message as an example. YCES Template (Word doc, 24 KB)
