The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Dumfries and Galloway Council has held a license to run the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for the young people of our region since the 1970's.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) has always aimed to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.
With more than 13 Centres running throughout Dumfries and Galloway, we are more committed than ever to provide an exciting opportunity for all young people to achieve an award that is fun, challenging, and personal to them.
There's 3 progressive levels for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
Each level of the Award requires something different from young people in terms of their time, however all levels include a Volunteering, Skills, Physical and Expedition section (for Gold participants, there's an additional Residential section) that will test young peoples skills, independence and team-working.

You can express your interest in being a volunteer to support the DofE in your local area here. This is open to any person aged 18 or above and there's no requirement for volunteers to have previous experience supporting the DofE to get involved!
